Batavia Oktoberfest Brings Brats, Brews, Music Downtown

This year, the festival has added a third day of family-themed activities.

BATAVIA, IL — Dust off your lederhosen and hoist your beer steins: Batavia's Oktoberfest kicks off Friday. The festival, which celebrates German culture, has added an extra day this year so residents can indulge in more music, bratwurst, and revelry along North River Street.

Batavia Oktoberfest begins Friday at 4:30, kicking off a full weekend of festivities between Wilson and Spring Streets. Festival goers can compete in a stein hoisting contest, master the art of yodeling, or don their best lederhosen to be crowned the best at German fashion.

Between bites of brats and sips of German beer, participants can watch a performance by Batavia Academy of Dance and practice their own dance moves to traditional German tunes performed by the Batavia Community Band.
