Batavia Peace Day: See What Events Are Planned

BATAVIA, IL — The schedule of events for Batavia Peace Day, coinciding with the United Nation's International Day of peace Sept. 21, has been unveiled.

The celebration will bring several events to the Peace Bridge and Riverwalk South Plaza in downtown Batavia from 4-7:30 p.m.

Batavia Peace Day is organized by a volunteer team working alongside the Batavia Parks Foundation and sponsored by a variety of local organizations and nonprofits.

Here's a look at the schedule of events for Batavia Peace Day:

• 3:30-4 p.m. — Yoga onsite registration at the information tent by the west side of the Peace Bridge
• 4-4:45 p.m. — Free Yoga: "Peaceful Yoga and Sound Healing" by Jenny Bergold. Bring your own mat or blanket and register at the information tent)
• 4-7:30 p.m. — "Inner Peace Walk." Free self-paced reflective walk on the Riverwalk, by Behati Hart
• 5-7:30 p.m. — Activity tables open. They include rock painting, button-making, tie-dye and luminaria
• 5-5:30 p.m. — Peace readings and poetry
• 5:30-6 p.m. — Dave Ramont, guitar and bass
• 6-6:30 p.m. Ryan Carney, cello
• 6:30-7 p.m. — "Dance is Universal" by Batavia Academy of Dance + Behati Hart
• 7 p.m. — Community sing-a-long. Song sheets will be available by QR code with only a limited supply of large print copies
• 7:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sept. 25: LED Luminaria on display for thoughtful community reflection
