Batavia Police Reveal Number Of Citations Issued During Christmas, NYE Enforcement Campaign
Over the course of about three weeks, Batavia police focused on getting impaired drivers off the road and ensuring drivers buckled up.
BATAVIA, IL — Batavia police concluded early Monday their final enforcement campaign of 2025, encompassing Christmas and New Year's Eve.
Over the course of the campaign, which began Dec. 12 and went until Jan. 5, officers made 43 traffic stops that resulted in a total of 42 citations and one impaired driving arrest, officials announced Tuesday morning.
Citations included 29 for speeding and one for distracted driving. The remaining 11 tickets were for "other types of enforcement contacts," police officials told Patch.

Batavia police used the campaign to focus on removing impaired drivers from the road and ensuring drivers were properly buckled.
"We can't stress it enough: impaired driving is a deadly gamble, no matter where you live," Deputy Chief Gary La Barbera said in a statement. "Whether it's alcohol, cannabis or any other drug, driving impaired is illegal, irresponsible and puts lives at risk — yours, your passengers' and everyone else’s on the road. That's why we do this."

The enforcement was administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation using federal highway safety funds managed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
