City Receives a Public Works Project of the Year Award

On January 14, 2020, the City of Batavia’s Wastewater Treatment Plant rehabilitation project won a Project of the Year Award from the American Public Works Association Fox Valley Branch in the environmental category in the $25-$75 million division. Byron Ritchason, City of Batavia Wastewater Superintendent, worked closely with contractors and engineers while the Wastewater Treatment Facility was under construction. Over the last few years, his team was able to provide unique solutions and design feedback during major component replacements, all while keeping the facility fully operational.
