Batavia Street Closures Aug. 26 for Peapod Half Marathon
The city's main intersections and the downtown area will be full of runners all morning. Here's the complete list of affected streets.
Batavia motorists will have to make way for a half-marathon this morning, Sunday, Aug. 26.
The Peapod “Half Madness” Half Marathon is back for 2012. The 13.1 mile run begins at 7 a.m. and will end at about 11:30 a.m.
There will be a number of temporary traffic interruptions throughout the City of Batavia. The following intersections will have police or public safety employees present from 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.:

West Side
- Batavia Avenue (Rt. 31) and Houston Street
- Batavia Avenue and Union Street
- Main Street and Millview Drive
- South Van Nortwick Avenue and Main Street
- Van Nortwick Avenue and West Wilson Street
- North Van Nortwick Avenue and McKee Street
East Side

- North Washington (Rt. 25) and Church Street
- Wilson and Prairie Street
- Cleveland Avenue and South Prairie Street
- Cleveland Avenue and South Raddant Road
- Pine Street and Woodland Hills Road

To the extent possible, this is an “open road” event, and participants have been instructed accordingly. Roads will remain open for passage with temporary and minor interruptions as participants make their way through the course.
Motorists: please be prepared to encounter increased pedestrian and runner traffic on the following main and arterial streets as well as in the downtown area during the hours of 7 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.:
- Batavia Avenue
- Van Nortwick Avenue
- Millview Drive
- North Washington Avenue
- Hart Road
- Raddant Road
- Prairie Street
Each other road/intersection will be staffed by public safety employees and/or race volunteers and vehicular traffic will be allowed to pass whenever it is safe to do so.
Please adjust your travel plans through the community accordingly on Sunday morning during these times in order to arrive to your destination on time.
