Batavia Theater Adds Specialty Screenings: Captions, Sensory Friendly

Movie-goers in Batavia will have the chance to experience films such as "Mean Girls" and "Soul" with captions or sensory modifications.

BATAVIA, IL — Emagine in Batavia added a host of specialty screenings to its roster for January, making movies more accessible for guests.

Beginning in mid-January, the movie theater will be hosting open caption and sensory-friendly screenings for the latest releases, including "Mean Girls," and rereleases, such as "Wizard of Oz" and Pixar's "Soul."

At showings with open captions, guests with hearing impairments can enjoy movies with subtitles, while during sensory-friendly showtimes, movie-goers will watch in a modified theater atmosphere that doesn't alter the film itself, the company said.
