BATAVIA, IL — On May 28, the Batavia Bulldogs Boys Track Team pulled off a last event push in the 400 race to emerge victorious, winning their first state title in program history. A week later, the team "is still on cloud nine" and planning to celebrate the win with the community.

Batavia residents and community members who want to join the team to celebrate their Class 3A State Championship win are invited to a community open house at Pal Joey's, 31 N. River St. The downtown Batavia event is set to start at 5 p.m. Sunday.

"It's not very often we get State Trophies so this is very special for our school and community," Athletic Director Dave Andrews said in a statement. "Spring sports lose out on a lot of celebrations because of the timing of the school year. We hope to see you all at Pal Joey’s on Sunday."

Members of the team and coaching staff will be at the restaurant — the restaurant moved back to its old stomping grounds on River Street from its previous location at 2030 Main St. — to interact with the community.
