For the second straight year, Batavia has dealt Glenbard North a stunning defeat in the nailbiting first game of the football season.
Last season, the Bulldogs beat the Panthers 42-41 at Glenbard North. The Panthers would go on to win their next 12 games before losing in the Class 8A state championship game. Batavia finished the season 9-1, losing to Downers Grove in the first round.
This year, the Bulldogs got off to an early lead and had to hold off a Panthers rally. They did, taking a 29-26 victory to remain undefeated in regular-season competition since 2011.
