Bulldogs Survive Shaky First Half to Beat Larkin, Secure Playoff Spot
St. Charles North is next on the Bulldogs' agenda.

- Recap provided by Claire Jacobi, a senior at Batavia High School
Sloppy and frustrating aren’t the usual words you would use to describe a Batavia Bulldog football game. But as the game against the Elgin-Larkin Royals reached halftime, that was how it had looked. Thankfully, that was quickly turned around.
The bulldogs defeated conference foe Elgin-Larkin, 46-14 at Memorial Field on Friday, Oct. 5.
On the first play of the second quarter, Larkin intercepted the ball and scored on a 90-yard rushing touchdown to put the Bulldogs behind, 14-7. The Bulldogs responded with an 8-yard rushing touchdown by Anthony Scaccia to tie it up. But the Bulldogs still looked a little shaky.
On the final place of the first half, Micah Coffey completed a 45-yard pass to Michael Moffatt to put the Bulldogs up 20-14 going into halftime.

The Bulldogs walked off the field frustrated, but came back into the game with a different mindset and played stronger in the final two quarters. Scaccia continued to be unstoppable, finding every hole in Larkin’s offense. He finished the game with four touchdowns, three rushing and one receiving.
Batavia’s defense welcomed back many players from injury. Seniors Anthony Thielk, Donovan Kilker, and James Millette, who have all suffered from injuries this season, each had their share of sacks.
