Broken Hearted Girl Looking for a Valentine!
When Safe Haven Dog Rescue brought Honey Dew into our rescue program she was broken hearted, literally! She was abandoned by her family at the shelter (which unfortunately is a common occurrence in Tennessee) leaving her lonely and very sad. Upon her vet check for the shelter, they discovered that she was Heartworm Positive (HW+)! Her heart was truly broken! And we knew we needed to help her.
She went through 30 days of medication and will have her Heartworm injections 2/11 and 2/12. That will fix her heartworm, but we still need to find her a family to mend her broken heart.

She is just the sweetest most loving girl! Being a Great Pyr mix, she LOVES to be outside and now that she is “up North” she has discovered that playing and lying in the snow brings her great joy! She is very gentle, kind and good in the house. We don’t know what happened in her previous life, but she is extremely cautious when walking through doors, but is gradually learning that this new life is good and she is getting better at this when reassured. When she finds a room that she feels comfortable in, she will curl up and settle in. She does well in the car, walks great on her leash and is an all around “sweetheart”. She would do best in a home with a fenced yard so that she can enjoy the great outdoors like Great Pyrs love to do.
Due to her recent HW treatment, she will need to be kept at a minimal activity level until March 15th, which means no running or rough housing…but who wants to do that in this damp, cold time of year anyway? She also needs to be an “only child”. She gets along with some dogs but not all we believe that this may be due to her being abandoned and left to fend for herself.

She would love needs a fenced back yard so she can enjoy the weather and do what Great Prys love to do! If you work part time or are home during the day she would be the perfect dog.
The shelter tells us that while she was there she was the most gentle and loving dog. She has such devotion in her eyes....she is truly an exceptional girl.
She is part of our Foster to Adopt program, meaning your family would foster her until mid March when her activity restrictions end and you would have first choice in adopting her…which is our hope for this sweetheart!
We pay for all expenses during fostering; including vetting, food, crate, toys, leash and collar.
