Batavia, IL – October 2, 2014 – Melinda Kintz of Batavia brings an extensive nonprofit and social services background to her new role as executive director of Batavia United Way.
Batavia United Way announced today that the board of directors was particularly excited that Kintz has experience building a social-needs program in Batavia and rallying the community to support it. Kintz, along with Joanne Spitz, co-created CHIP IN Batavia, a program to support the Batavia Public Schools’ population of homeless children.
Ann Gerardi, board president, spoke on behalf of the directors.
“The board of directors of Batavia United Way is pleased to announce that Melinda Kintz has joined Batavia United Way as its executive director,” said Gerardi. “The combination of passion, not for profit experience and practical problem-solving skills that Melinda brings to us promises exciting new developments for the community and continued support of local agencies.”
Besides her CHIP IN experience, Kintz has worked with Living Well Cancer Resource Center, as a volunteer wish granter and mentor for Make A Wish of Illinois, and as a volunteer and board member for Fox Valley Habitat for Humanity ReStore.
She also has nearly 20 years of experience as a marketing representative in the group health care insurance arena. Kintz graduated from Illinois State University, Normal, with a degree in medical social work.
“I am very excited to be a part of the Batavia United Way organization,” Kintz stated. “It is such an honor to be able to help carry on the legacy of community service established over 45 years ago by earlier generations of Batavians.
“Ours is such a caring and compassionate community that time after time, rallies to support its neighbors and residents,” she continued. “Batavia United Way is ready to move to the next level - with more support for the various agencies that help our citizens and a few new programs of our own.”
