Phi Beta Kappa is the oldest academic honor society in the United States, and the most prestigious, due in part to its long history and academic selectivity. Phi Beta Kappa aims to promote and advocate excellence in the liberal arts and sciences, and to induct the most outstanding students of arts and sciences at only select American colleges and universities. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only 10% of U.S. colleges and universities have Phi Beta Kappa chapters. These chapters select only about 10 percent of their arts and sciences graduates to join. Zofkie is among approximately 10,000 students to be initiated into Phi Beta Kappa each year.
Zofkie graduated from Knox College, Magna Cum Laude, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a minor in Theatre Performance.
