Community Rallies To Help Batavia Man After Aneurysm

Fundraisers have been started to help Jeff Nelson of Batavia, who suffered an aneurysm on March 4.

BATAVIA, IL — Jeff Nelson's life changed drastically after he suffered a brain aneurysm on March 4 that has kept him in the hospital ever since. The Batavia man underwent brain surgery on March 21, but he still has a long recovery ahead, something those who know him are hoping to make easier by holding a fundraiser at Full Moon Bar and Grill, according to Kane County Chronicle.

After Nelson's aneurysm, he was taken by helicopter from Delnor Hospital to Central DuPage Hospital, but doctors had to wait to treat the aneurysm "due to severe brain bleeding and swelling," his sister-in-law Courtney Nelson wrote on a GoFundMe page started to help with Jeff's medical expenses.

Once Jeff is able to leave the hospital, he'll have to head to Maranjoy for therapy to help him slowly regain many of his functions, including walking and talking, his GoFundMe states.
