CSI: Cemetery Search & Investigation

Ever wonder what those symbols on your great-grandfather's tombstone mean?

The next program in the library’s “Questions & Ancestors” genealogy series, CSI: Cemetery Search & Investigation, will be offered at 2 p.m., on August 9, at the Batavia Public Library. Presenter Tina Beaird will explain some of the symbols found on older headstones as well as mourning customs of the past. Beaird also offers suggestions and tips on how to find your ancestors’ burial places and the different kinds of burial information available. Beaird is a reference and local history Librarian at the Plainfield Public Library and the digitization specialist for the Plainfield Historical Society. Registration is required; register online at www.BataviaPublicLibrary.org or call the library’s Reference Desk, (630) 879-1393, ext. 200.
