Deadline To Report Batavia Sidewalk Issues Approaches
Batavia residents and business owners can report sidewalk issues to the city for evaluation and possible construction the following season.

BATAVIA, IL — Batavia residents and business owners have until Oct. 31 to report issues with sidewalks around the city.
By reporting issues, Batavians are taking part in Batavia's Sidewalk Removal and Replacement Program, which begins each fall as a way to ensure pedestrian safety and reduce liability for both property owners and the city, officials said.
In order to be considered for repairs, officials said sidewalks must have at least one of these issues:

- Walks must be sunken or risen to a height difference of one inch or more between two sidewalk panels.
- The sidewalk panel is broken or separated into three or more pieces.
- 50 percent or more of the surface has deteriorated.
Locals can report sidewalk issues by calling the city's engineering department at 630-454-2750 after which a staff member will evaluate the sidewalk to determine if it qualifies for repairs.
If requests are approved, repairs will typically start the following construction season, according to a news release.
