'Extensive' Fire Ablaze In Church Street Home Under Investigation: BFD

Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish Thursday's fire, but losses were still substantial for residents, officials said.

BATAVIA, IL — A house fire that erupted in the 200 block of Church Street Jan. 19 is under investigation by the Batavia Fire Department, officials said.

Crews responded to the house around 3 p.m. Thursday and were able to extinguish the flames quickly, which prevented further damage, officials said. But losses were substantial to residents, according to the fire department, prompting the help of city utilities, Nicor and the Red Cross.

No injuries were reported.
