False Fire Alarm Prompts Evacuation of North Aurora Theater

NORTH AURORA, IL — A false fire alarm caused an evacuation of the Cinemark Tinseltown USA in North Aurora at around 11:45 a.m. Saturday morning.

According to an official with the North Aurora Fire Department, one of the fire detectors went off near theater 15 or 16, causing an evacuation.

An employee of the theater said she wasn’t sure what prompted the alarm.

Audience members saw a flashing light during their movies which then began to sound an alarm. An employee went through the theater telling patrons they had to evacuate.

The cinema goers stood outside while North Aurora police and firefighters responded to the scene. The all clear was given about 10 minutes after the theater was evacuated.
