Getting Involved & Paving the Way to College

College prep program for students in grades 8 & 9

Students currently in grades eight and nine are invited to attend “Getting Involved and Paving the Road to College,” from 7 to 8 p.m., on May 12, at Batavia Public Library. Part one of the program, from 7 to 7:25 p.m., introduces soon-to-be 9th graders to the differences between middle and high schools and how extracurricular activities can help advance a student academically and socially. Topics include reasons why students should join clubs and other extracurricular activities, skills gained in high school, and how students can access these opportunities. During part two of the program, from 7:25–8 p.m., current 9th graders can learn how to prepare for college admission academically and by participating in extracurricular activities. Hear about the college experience from a recent college graduate. Registration is required. Register online at BataviaPublicLibrary.org or call the library Reference Desk, (630) 879-1393, ext. 200.
