Graffiti Painted on Church and Other Criminal Mischief in Batavia

Criminal damage reports between Sept. 3 and Sept. 18, 2013, in Batavia include graffiti to a church and the usual array of damage to vehicles and residences.

Graffiti Challenge

  • Graffiti was painted on Challenge Properties, Inc, 335 N River St., according to a report filed at 2:20 p.m. Sept. 16. The estimated cost to repair the damage is $300.
  • A criminal damage to property complaint was filed at Holy Cross Church, 2300 Main St., according to a report filed at 10:37 a.m. Sept. 11. The report says “graffiti” and “occurred sometime over the weekend.”
  • Someone put graffiti on a horse crossing sign on the east side of Hart Road north of Ridgelawn trail, according to a report filed at 9:39 a.m. Sept. 11. A damage to city property report was completed, but there was no indication of the cost to repair the damage.


Damage to Vehicles

  • Someone broke the driver’s side window of a vehicle in the 2500 block of Hansford Avenue sometime between 6 p.m. and 9:57 p.m. Sept. 14, reports said. The estimated cost to repair the damage is $200 to $300.
  • Someone damaged a vehicle in the 2500 block of Hansford Avenue, according to a report filed at 9:57 p.m. Sept. 14. The report was not completed.
  • Someone slashed the driver’s-side tires of a vehicle in the 1100 block of E. Wilson Street sometime between 6 p.m. Sept. 8 and 6:45 am. Sept. 9, reports said. The cost to replace the tires was estimated at $100.
  • Someone scratched a vehicle parked at USA Cleaners, 819 South Randall Road, according ot a report filed at 7:17 p.m. Sept. 9. The cost to repair the damage was unknown at the time of the report.

Damage to Residences

  • Someone damaged an apartment screen patio door in the 1200 block of East Wilson Street, according to a report filed at 4:03 p.m. Sept. 15, reports said. There was no dollar amount associated with the damage.
  • Someone shattered a patio glass table valued at $150 in the 900 block of Moorehead Drive, according to a report filed at 6:38 p.m. Sept. 10. 
  • Someone damaged a door of a building in the 400 block of Spring Street, according to a report filed at 9:36 a.m. Sept. 3. The cost to repair the damage was estimated at $200.
