Hit-And-Run Driver Charged In Crash With Pedestrian: Batavia Police
A 28-year-old North Aurora man is facing charges after police say he crashed into a pedestrian, 69, and fled the scene.
BATAVIA, IL — A North Aurora man who fled after crashing into a pedestrian Friday in Batavia is facing multiple charges, including a felony, police said.
A 69-year-old man was crossing Wilson Street at the intersection of South River Street at about 5:30 a.m. when he was hit by a dark-colored SUV, believed to be a Toyota Highlander, according to a news release from the Batavia Police Department.
Police said the driver was traveling north on River Street when he turned left onto westbound Wilson Street when he hit the pedestrian. The driver then fled the scene.

The pedestrian was lying in the road when paramedics arrived to transport him to a hospital. He suffered non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.
Police were able to identify the car of the fleeing driver using security cameras in the area. At about 5:19 a.m. Saturday, officers located the Highlander that matched the description and identified the driver as the 28-year-old Jacob P.G. Belarmino, of the 700 block of Doral Lane in North Aurora.

Belarmino was subsequently charged with leaving the scene of an injury accident, a felony; failure to report an accident and failure to give aid or information, both misdemeanors; and failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, a petty offense.
The crash remains under investigation, and police are asking anyone with additional information to contact BPD at 630-454-2500.
