Hollywood Casino Aurora employees and their family members will be shaving their heads at a charity event for St. Baldrick’s Foundation, which raises money for childhood cancer research. The event will take place at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 16 at Hollywood Casino Aurora (for those 21 and over). There will be an additional smaller event beforehand at 11 a.m. at Firehouse Pizza and Pub in Oswego for those participating who are not yet 21.
The events will raise money to support the foundation while demonstrating the casino employees’ support of children who lose their hair while battling cancer.
“Childhood cancer is a devastating disease that has unfortunately hit close to home for several of our employees,” said Himbert Sinopoli, Hollywood Casino Aurora general manager. “We are delighted to be taking part in raising funds and awareness for such an important cause, and to be helping save young lives.”
The casino is participating in an official St. Baldrick’s Head Shaving Eventas Team Kylie, named in honor of Kylie Arnold, niece of a current Hollywood Casino employee and daughter of a former employee. Arnold lost her battle with cancer three years ago and is the inspiration behind the charity event.
St. Baldrick’s has raised more than $10 million so far this year from more than 1,000 Head Shaving Events nationwide. These charity events began in 2000 and have grown in number rapidly since then, taking place in restaurants, schools, parks, firehouses and other public spaces.
To donate to Teak Kylie, visit the team’s website at http://bit.ly/1ga7mWv. All funds raised will go directly to St. Baldrick’s Foundation.
