Jewelry, Money Stolen After Burglar Forced Entry Into Batavia Home: PD

Another resident reported people walking through their yard overnight, around the time of the burglary, police said.

BATAVIA, IL — A residential burglary and another instance of "suspicious circumstances" were Sunday and Monday in the 1400 block of Harvell Drive in Batavia, according to police.

Around 10:28 a.m. Monday, police officers were dispatched to a house for a report of a residential burglary. Officials said the burglary occurred between 10:30 a.m. Saturday and when it was reported. Residents reported money and miscellaneous jewelry missing, according to a news release.

Police said they suspect the suspects got inside by forcing their way in through a rear door. No one was home at the time of the burglary.

On Sunday, a resident on the same street reported "suspicious circumstances" where people walked through their yard overnight the previous evening. Police said they're reviewing surveillance footage from the incident.

Police are asking residents in the area to check their exterior surveillance footage for possible details. Anyone with information about the incidents is asked to call the police department's investigations division at 630-454-2500.
