Kane Co. Primary Election Results: Referenda, County Races
The unofficial vote totals are in from Tuesday's primary election.

KANE COUNTY, IL — Voters in Batavia have voted down a $27.14 bond referendum meant to fund a new indoor recreational activity center in town. With all precincts reporting, 5,128 voters — or 62 percent of the vote total — chose "no" to a proposition requesting approval to borrow the funds needed to build a 65,150-square-foot indoor recreational facility in the Fox Valley Business Park off of Route 25, according to unofficial results, which do not include mail-in and early vote totals.
A total of 3,043 voters in Batavia — or 37.2 percent of the vote total — were in favor of a property tax hike that would've made borrowing for the recreational facility possible, according to the unofficial results posted on local county clerk's website.
The proposed facility would've included an eight-lane indoor pool, a multi-plex area that includes indoor turf and multi-activity courts, an indoor walking and running track and wellness area with group fitness space and workout equipment, according to the Batavia Park District website.

The borrowed funds would have meant the owner of a home valued at $300,000 would need to pay $178 more per year for more than 20 years, according to park district officials.

There were 1,005 votes cast in favor of the proposition, according to unofficial results, which does not include mail-in or early vote totals.
The referendum that appeared on voters ballots read: "Shall the Pingree Grove and Countryside Fire Protection District, Kane County, Illinois, build and equip two new fire stations and issue its bonds to the amount of $8,500,000 for the purpose of paying the costs thereof?"
The two new stations were meant to be more centrally located to better serve those living in the district, which consists of nearly 50 square miles. The owner of a home valued at $300,000 would have had to pay about $50 more per year in property taxes to fund the $8.5 million bond payments.
