Kane Forest Preserve Hosts Jan. 11 Snowmobile Safety Course
There is no charge for the Snowmobile Safety program, but please register by Thursday, Jan. 9.

The Forest Preserve District of Kane County is hosting a Snowmobile Safety Class for 11-16-year olds on Saturday, Jan. 11, in Geneva.
By law, youths between the ages of 12 and 16 who wish to operate a snowmobile under the supervision of an adult, must earn a Snowmobile Safety Certificate. Attendance at the Jan. 11 class meets that Illinois Department of Natural Resources requirement, and is also valid in Michigan and Wisconsin.
Eleven-year-olds may take the class, but they cannot receive their certificate until they reach age 12.

The program is being presented by the Forest Preserve’s Public Safety Department and all-volunteer Snowmobile Safety Patrol. Patrol members serve as ambassadors for the District by riding and watching the preserves and trails. These volunteers enhance public safety by providing information and assistance with search and rescue events, as needed.
The Snowmobile Safety Class is from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, at Forest Preserve District administrative headquarters, 1996 S. Kirk Road, Suite 320, Geneva. The headquarters office is on the third floor of the Fox Valley Ice Arena. There is no charge for the Snowmobile Safety program, but please register by Thursday, Jan. 9. To register or for more information, contact Ron Julian at 630-546-8058.
