Martin Luther High School Concert

Touring concert choir and contemporary Christian ensemble perform at Immanuel, Batavia

The Martin Luther High School Concert Choir and Troubadours from Greendale, Wisconsin will present “Nothing Ever Can, Nothing Ever Will,” a Concert of sacred music on Tue., Apr. 4, 7 PM at Immanuel Lutheran Church and School, 950 Hart Road, Batavia. The concert will showcase the top two auditioned choirs at Martin Luther and blends both traditional and contemporary music into a unique and powerful worship experience for the audience, whose participation is invited with the inclusion of several hymns for congregation and choir.

These two award-winning choral groups will make this appearance as part of a six-day concert tour which will take them to Illinois, New York, Ohio, and Indiana.The 39-voice Concert Choir will perform a wide variety of sacred pieces, including classic selections from Bach and Handel as well as more recent choral works by Knut Nystedt and Timothy Shaw. The Troubadours, a group of 21 select singers specializing in contemporary Christian music and vocal jazz, will perform the middle portion of the program with inspiring songs from some of today’s most popular Christian artists including Mercy Me and Lauren Daigle.

Led by Choral Director Timothy S. Franz, the Concert Choir and Troubadours have over the years consistently received first place ratings in Wisconsin School Music Association Festivals. Since 1978, the Concert Choir and Troubadours have embarked on annual concert tours which have taken them to 26 states and Canada.

Mr. Franz, in his twenty-eighth year directing the two groups, is a graduate of Concordia University, Seward, Nebraska and earned his Masters in Church Music degree at Concordia University-Wisconsin. Previous to his work at Martin Luther, Mr. Franz was Music Director and upper grade teacher at Our Father Lutheran Church, Greenfield, Wisconsin.

Martin Luther High School is one of three Missouri Synod Lutheran High Schools in the Milwaukee area. It has a student body of over 500 students and is currently in its forty-ninth year of operation.

The public is cordially invited to attend this performance to walk together in faith during this Lenten season. No ticket is required, but a free-will offering will be received to help the students defray the cost of the tour.
