Memorial Day Enforcement Yields 47 Tickets: Batavia Police
Officers issued the citations — and made four arrests — during the two-week campaign encompassing Memorial Day.
BATAVIA, IL — Batavia police released Friday the results of their Memorial Day enforcement campaign, revealing the campaign yielded a total of 47 tickets.
The Batavia Police Department partnered with the Illinois Department of Transportation and other local law enforcement agencies for the campaign that lasted May 16-25.
Batavia police dedicated 49 hours of additional enforcement time to the campaign, which focused on seat belt use, speeding and impaired driving.

These were the results:
- Seat Belt violations: 2
- Speeding citations (including multiple misdemeanor speeds): 32
- Other enforcement contacts: 13
- License‑related arrests (suspended, revoked or no valid driver's license): 2
- Impaired driving arrests: 2 driving under the influence of alcohol
"Our message is simple: Buckle up. Slow down. Drive sober," Sgt. Michelle Langston said in a statement. "These proactive enforcement efforts help keep our community safe, especially during high‑traffic holiday weekends. We thank everyone who made responsible choices on the road."
