'Multiple' Cars Stolen, Burglarized In Batavia: Cops

BATAVIA, IL — Police in Batavia are warning residents to leave their vehicles locked after a rash of car thefts and burglaries hit the city in one night. Two cars were reported stolen from the owners' driveways on Saturday and "multiple" vehicles were burglarized overnight between Friday and Saturday, according to police.

In a news release, police said the incidents were centralized to the northwest part of the city. Both cars that were reported stolen had been left unlocked with the keys inside of them, police said.

Residents are urged to lock their vehicles at all times and to leave garage and car door openers out of sight. Anyone who sees suspicious activity should call 911 or alert Batavia Police at 630-454-2500.
