Music Matters Invites Community to Open House

Music Matters School of Music is invites the community to their open house at their new location, the old Louise White School located at 24. N Washington Ave. in Batavia from Noon to 4:00 Pm Saturday August 23, 2014. Everyone is invited to come and see the fully restored 1860’s and 1920’s buildings including the 14 brand new music teaching studios, two lounges, and the many classrooms. There will be a ribbon cutting with Batavia Mayor, Jeff Schielke at 1:00 pm, live music all day, theater class demos, raffle giving away one month of lessons to a new student and other prizes, and sweet treats for all to enjoy.

“It is really a dream come true” says Music Matters Director and life-long Batavia resident Jeff Matter. “To see the smiles on our student’s faces when they enter the new building brings joy to my heart” says Matter. Music Matters opened in June of 2006 at their old location on Wilson Street in downtown Batavia and moved into their current location this summer where they teach piano, percussion, voice, and guitar lessons. With this new location, Music Matters now has the space to offer several new classes including percussion ensemble, steel band, group ukulele classes, and several other classes for adults and children. “Our new theater program is something I have wanted to do for a long time and now we have the space to offer those classes.” states Matter. The school will have theater classes for children grades kindergarten through high school. “The class I am really excited about is our Glee class where our students will get to sing and dance their favorite songs and perform them for everyone” says Matter.
