New Principal Appointed At Alice Gustafson School

Kristen Stevens will finish out the current school year working as principal at an elementary school in Stickney.

BATAVIA, IL — A new principal has been appointed to start at Alice Gustafson School in the upcoming school year, school district officials announced. Kristen Stevens will replace Tim McDermott, who will remain with District 101 but in a new position next year.

Stevens will come to Batavia Public School District 101 from Stickey, Illinois, where she currently serves as principal of Home Elementary School, a role she has held for four years.

The educator has more than 25 years of experience working in the field. Past positions she has held include special education teacher, special education coordinator, assistant principal and principal, all at an elementary level, district officials said.

"I am excited and honored to have the opportunity to lead a school with such exceptional students, dedicated staff, and supportive school community members," Stevens said in a letter to school staff, according to district officials. "I feel very fortunate to be part of the Alice Gustafson Elementary learning community and to work with the students, staff, and families."

Stevens currently resides in Yorkville, where she lives with her husband, Anthony, and their two cats, Vader and Violet.
