Most of the Batavia shots will air during the 6 a.m. hour., said Matt Rodewald, NBC 5 reporter and 670 The Score anchor.

The crowd on camera will be mostly Batavia High School students. Only students and school staff are invited to come to the high school's main gym starting at about 4:45 a.m. to be part of the morning festivities.

NBC will begin to set up during the 4 a.m. hour, Rodewald said.

NBC will feature Batavia as its football team prepares for a semifinal matchup on Saturday. The Bulldogs host the Prairie Ridge Wolves at 1 p.m. this Saturday, Nov. 19 at the high school, 1201 Main St., Batavia.

Batavia residents and fans to lock in votes on NBC's Facebook poll for this contest.

In another record-setting vote, the Bulldogs took control in the final hour of voting to earn the right to host the NBC 5 Prep Destination of the Week. For the second straight week, Naperville Central fell victim to the closest margin in the segment's history. The Redhawks came up 37 votes short, after falling by 40 last week.

What To Expect

Cameras will capture Batavia's Bulldog Pride as students gather for the early-morning pep rally.

There will be:

  • A huge crowd of students
  • BHS Cheerleaders

As always, the NBC 5 News Today program will conclude with a high-energy "Dance Friday" segment at the end of the show. Batavia will be the main focus of the dance segment, which will air at about 6:50 a.m. Friday, Rodewald said.

The song for this Friday's dance segment is expected to be pop singer Rihanna's recent hit "We Found Love."

"Our goal is to highlight all the essentials for casual prep followers and fans of both teams to help them find the school if they haven't been there before, where to park, locating gas and food, etc.," Rodewald said in a press release.
