Old Second Bank Robbed In Batavia

The FBI says a suspect is in custody from a Tuesday afternoon bank robbery in Batavia.

BATAVIA, IL - A bank was robbed in Batavia Tuesday afternoon, causing a brief lockdown at Batavia High School. The FBI has responded to a call that the Old Second Bank at 1991 W. Wilson was robbed and have a suspect in custody, according to FBI Chicago Media Coordinator Garrett Croon.

Police in Batavia began the investigation into the robbery shortly after 2 p.m., according to a report from the Kane County Chronicle. The high school was placed on a lockdown for about 20 minutes as a search was on for a suspect in the area. The Chronicle reports that police at a Menards store on Route 47 in Yorkville were searching for the suspect there.

The FBI did not immediately have any additional information.
