Phone Scammers Pose As Kane County Sheriff's Office: Report
The caller ID will make it look like someone's calling from the sheriff's office, but it's really a scammer.

KANE COUNTY, IL --- The Kane County Sheriff's Office is used to helping residents field phone scams, especially around the holiday season. The newest scam, however, employs a technique that makes it appear as though the Kane County Sheriff's Office is calling, officials said in a Facebook post.
The callers use special technology to make the Kane County Sheriff's Office phone number appear in your caller ID, according to police. The scammer then reportedly tells the victim that their loved one is in the Kane County Jail and needs money sent to them.
Police are warning residents not to be susceptible and that these phone calls are fraudulent. They also remind residents to check the inmate list on the Kane County Sheriff's website when in doubt.
