Pizza Delivery Man Shot in Head With Pellet Gun in Batavia Armed Robbery

The man was attacked while delivering a pizza to a home late Wednesday in Batavia. Police are looking for a suspect.

BATAVIA, IL - A pizza delivery man was shot in the head with an air pellet gun after being grabbed from behind during an armed robbery in Batavia late Wednesday night, police said.

The 51-year-old driver was delivering an order to a home in the 300 block of Woodland Hills Road at about 10:20 p.m. when a black man attacked him, according to a Batavia Police Department press release. During a struggle, the delivery driver was shot in the head.

Police said the man suffered a non-life-threatening injury to the scalp as well as some scrapes and bruises. He was taken to an area hospital where he was treated and released.

The suspect fled the area on foot following the incident and got into a dark-colored SUV, possibly an older-model Jeep Cherokee. He left the area heading south on Woodland Hills Road. He is described as a black man, 6-feet 3-inches with a medium build. He was wearing dark clothing and a ski cap.
