Police Investigate Vehicle Burglaries in Batavia

Several vehicles were burglarized early Thursday in Batavia. Police are asking for the public's help in tracking down the suspects.

BATAVIA, IL — The Batavia Police Department is asking for the public's help in tracking down burglars accused of stealing from several unlocked cars in town early Thursday, police said. The majority of the burglaries occurred in the 900 to 1100 block of Lorlyn Circle in Batavia, according to a post on the Batavia Police Department Facebook page.

Police on Thursday are pursuing a number of leads in the case and are asking residents living in the area to check their vehicles to make sure there have not been any additional burglaries

In addition, authorities are asking residents to check video surveillance to see if any of these crimes or suspects were captured on video, according to the Facebook post. If your vehicle has been burglarized or if you believe you have video surveillance that could local police in their investigation, you can call the Batavia Police Department at 630-454-2500.

"Citizens are strongly encouraged to keep their vehicles locked at all times. In addition, please remove all valuables from your vehicle, including car and house keys," authorities said. "Please call 911 immediately to report any suspicious activity that you may see in your neighborhood."
