Popular Grocer Recalls Dessert Due To Possible Glass Contamination

Illinois is one of the seven states affected by the recall.

BATAVIA, IL — The popular grocer Aldi has recalled a dessert that "may contain foreign objects," specifically glass.

The Quebec-based manufacturer Lactalis Canada issued a recall for vanilla creme creme brulee sold exclusively by Aldi, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The dessert is packaged in glass jars.

Aldi, whose headquarters are in Batavia, sold almost 2,900 cases of the potentially contaminated product, the FDA reported.

The potentially contaminated desserts had a use-by date of May 9. The item's barcode was 4099100342826.

Besides Illinois, the recalled desserts were sold in six other states: Indiana, Florida, Maryland, Michigan, New York and Virginia.
