Cause of Power Outage That Left 10,000 in Batavia in the Dark Under Investigation

Power outages were reported across the city of Batavia early Monday.

About a third of the city of Batavia was left in the dark early Monday due to power outages that affected about 10,000 residences and businesses, city officials said Monday night.

The cause of the power outage remains under investigation, Brian J. Bettin, manager of electric operations for the city of Batavia, said in an e-mail response.

Some Patch readers said power went out just before 3 a.m. in their neighborhoods. Power was restored to all customers by 5 a.m., according to Bettin.
