SCRC Rowing Fundraiser at Mill Creek Golf Club

June 10th fundraiser for the Saint Charles Rowing Club features golf, dinner and a silent auction.

Saint Charles Rowing Club (SCRC), a nonprofit 501(c)(3) competitive juniors rowing program for high-school athletes and a program provider for adaptive/paramilitary veterans, is hosting a golf event as part of its capital fundraising campaign. The fundraising campaign’s goal is to raise $10,000 to support continued growth of junior’s competitive crew and adaptive/paramilitary rowing programs. One-hundred percent of all donated funds will be used to purchase new equipment to support the club and its mission, to promote the understanding of and appreciation for the sport of rowing within the community.

The SCRC Golf Classic will take place on Friday, June 10, 2016 at the Mill Creek Golf Club in Geneva, Illinois. The golf event will host 72 golfers with a 12:00 pm shotgun start. The price of the golf event is $75 per person, which includes 18 holes, golf cart, lunch box, games, prizes and awards. Interested golfers can register individually or as a foursome at www.SCRCGolfClassic.com.

Immediately following the golf event, SCRC will be hosting a dinner and silent auction, starting at 5:30 pm in the Mill Creek Golf Clubhouse. The $45 per person pig-roast dinner can accommodate up to 200 people; golfers are invited to stay for dinner and bring their families, as well as non-golfers are welcome to attend just the dinner. A silent auction featuring a one-week cottage stay in Ireland, event tickets, food and beverage giveaways, merchant gift certificates, gift baskets and more! Please register for the dinner at www.SCRCGolfClassic.com.

Additionally, SCRC is seeking corporate sponsorships for the event. Tax-deductible sponsorships of 18 golf holes, 18 golf carts, lunch boxes and the dinner are available. SCRC’s primary focus is offering competitive junior’s rowing to high-school (aged 15-18) students. Since the club was founded in 2013, SCRC has taught over 100 teenagers how to row competitively and helped 12 high-school senior’s advance to collegiate rowing careers with scholarships and other support. This year, four graduating seniors have recently signed collegiate rowing letters of intent: Hailey Borden (Geneva High School) – University of Kansas; Jennifer Schreiber (Hinsdale Central High School) – Temple University; and Liam and Max Kurland (St. Francis High School) – Mercyhurst University.

Beyond the junior’s program, SCRC also provides adaptive rowing programs for veterans and disabled individuals through the Wounded Warrier Project and Team Red, White & Blue, giving them a physical and emotional connection with like-minded citizens. Meldrum, who comes from a military family, offers the only paramilitary rowing program to veterans and their families in the greater Chicagoland area.

Chris Meldrum, SCRC Founder & Director, stated, “Our club started in 2013 with a couple of kids and a boat. Since then, our growth has been so rapid that our infrastructure, equipment and coaching must expand to keep pace with our increasing membership. Our primary focus is to deliver highest quality competitive rowing program in the Fox River Valley area, reaching out as far as Hinsdale, Barrington and Naperville. We support the community. With sufficient funding, there is no limit to the good work that we can do!”
