'Slow Down Batavia ' Campaign To Launch Aug. 15
Residents can help raise awareness by posting free "Slow Down Batavia" signs in their yards.

BATAVIA, IL — With the 2018-19 school year right around the corner, Batavia is set to launch its "Slow Down Batavia" campaign in an effort to help keep children safe. The campaign, which begins August 15, will involve increased police enforcement of speed limits and public signage to increase awareness.
Speed enforcement will be heavier in areas near schools, Batavia officials said in a press release. Batavia Police Chief Dan Eul said in the media release, "The safety of all pedestrians, but particularly children, must be a top priority in this city. We’re trying to give it more attention with as many practical measures as possible."
These measures also include giving residents access to free "Slow Down Batavia" signs that they can post in their yards. The signs will be available starting August 1 at the following locations:

- Rosalie Jones Administration Center
Residents can also do their part by using the hashtag #SlowDownBatavia on Facebook, Twitter, and other social media sites throughout the campaign, which ends on September 1.
