Sturdy Shelter Brewing Opens Long-Awaited Riverside Deck
The dog-friendly, open-air space sits behind the Batavia brewery overlooking the Fox River.
BATAVIA, IL — Sturdy Shelter Brewing unveiled its riverside deck just in time to soak in the last rays of summertime sunshine.
The brewery, at 10 Shumway Ave., along the Fox River bike trail, hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday afternoon for its outdoor patio.
Up to 40 guests can sit outside, enjoying the river views on Adirondack chairs and at table seating. The space is also dog-friendly.

Oppermann Architects designed the deck to match the brewery's interior, with cedar posts, black trim and railings with cable. 212 Degree Construction brought the vision to life.
Opened in 2023, Sturdy Shelter Brewing has 18 beers on tap, all brewed on-site. The current draft list is live on the brewery's website.
