Mrs. Nelson is so excited to get together with her favorite little people this summer and have a great time playing, learning, singing, and exploring! With fun, themed activities, preschoolers will strengthen their number and letter awareness. With songs and story time, they will practice listening skills, focusing, and retention. They will be learning how to socialize in a group and become more familiar with a classroom setting, and sharing that space with friends. They will also enjoy a snack and some large motor play, and surely the morning will end too quickly...so consider staying for Lunch Buddies!

LIT LAB

Entering Kindergarten-Grade 2

Led by Immanuel’s fifth grade teacher, Penny Suydam (2016 LEA Outstanding Elementary Teacher)

Reading gets a little messy as children make connections between picture books and scientific concepts. There will be lots of reading and lots of hands-on science. Want to know what it’s like to be an architect, inventor, or weather forecaster? Join Mrs. Suydam this summer and find out! The children will do some digging and building, some cloud-watching, and much, much more!

Register for one class or all six to join the fun!

TRIP AROUND THE WORLD

Entering Grades 3-4

Led by Immanuel’s fourth grade teacher, Bill Moser (ILS Class of 2006 alumnus)

Children will explore cultures around the world through books, music, food, art, and special projects. They will begin each class by reading age appropriate children’s literature from the focus country and discussing the things that they notice are different from life in the U.S. Video and audio highlighting the culture’s language, traditions, music, and food will also be explored; followed by a wrap-up activity such as learning a dance, composing a song, creating a work of art, or sampling some of the culture’s traditional cuisine (please advise regarding any food allergies).
