'Suspicious' Batavia Incident Involving 3 Suspects Under Investigation

What was reported as a burglary in progress on Gosselin Circle turned out to be an argument between a resident and three men, police said.

BATAVIA, IL — A "suspicious" Thursday night incident involving three suspects is under investigation by Batavia police, officials said Friday.

Police were dispatched at about 8:32 p.m. to the 900 block of Gosselin Circle for a suspicious person report, later updated to be a burglary in process. A witness called 911 to report that three people, possibly armed, attempted to force entry into one of the residences in the neighborhood, according to a news release.

Due to the nature of the call, deputies from the Kane County Sheriff's Office were called to assist police on the scene.

Law enforcement officers made contact with the resident, who advised there was no burglary but rather an argument between another resident and three men, all four of whom left the scene before police arrived, officials said.

Investigators found no one matching the description at the residence or in the surrounding area. Police determined the incident to be isolated, with no threat to public safety, according to the release.
