Teacher Appreciation
An Immanuel Lutheran School middle school teacher is recognized as part of BHS volleyball celebration.

Clapping, cheering, hugs and smiles were the order of the day recently at Batavia High School. What was causing all this celebration? It was Teacher Appreciation Night for BHS Volleyball. The volleyball players were asked to choose a teacher who had a big impact on their lives and was a positive influence for them.
Immanuel’s Julie McFarland, Immanuel's eighth-grade homeroom teacher, was recognized as the most influential teacher of Jacque Schroeder (Immanuel Lutheran School eighth grade graduating class of 2018) who plays volleyball at Batavia High School.
How was Julie McFarland influential in Jacque’s life? Jacque eloquently stated, “Mrs. McFarland influenced me through her work in the classroom, teaching each of us to become a better person and disciple in Christ while always emphasizing it is rather to be kind than necessary.”

Jacque was the only student to choose a teacher from outside Batavia High School and Julie was the only private school teacher chosen. What a great honor for Julie and for Immanuel Lutheran School!
When asked about teaching and the recognition from Jacque, Julie said, “There are many rewarding aspects of teaching. Being able to witness the moment of excitement when a student understands a newly taught concept, is one of the most rewarding. I do have to say, that when a past student comes back to check in or even say thank you for taking that time to teach, is very heart warming. I always feel very humbled by the kind words of students and hold them very dear in my heart. Being recognized by Jacque was very touching. I love to teach and I love the students I am privileged to teach.”
