These Batavia Restaurants Are Now Open For Outdoor Dining

Dozens of Batavia restaurants have opened outdoor dining areas after Illinois moved into phase 3 of its reopening plan at the end of May.

BATAVIA, IL — More than two dozen Batavia restaurants have opened outdoor seating areas, taking full advantage of loosened restrictions to get back to business. The entire state moved into phase 3 of the Restore Illinois reopening at the end of May, allowing restaurants and bars to reopen with safety precautions.

If approved for a temporary outdoor-dining permit, restaurants will be able to use a portion of their parking lots for al fresco dining areas, which must be located at least 6 feet from public sidewalks. Tables must also be at least 6 feet from each other, and parties are limited to no more than 6 people.

Restaurants must install fencing at least 3 feet high if the areas encroach on parking areas or alcohol will be served, under an executive signed last month by Mayor Jeffery Schielke.
