Thieves Lead Cops On High Speed Chase From Batavia To Lisle
Police say the man and a teen damaged a display case and stole 6 phones before fleeing police at more than 100 mph.

BATAVIA, IL --- A man and a juvenile were arrested Thursday after leading police on a high speed chase following a retail theft in Batavia just before 7 p.m. Police spotted the suspects in Lisle about an hour later and took both suspects into custody. The adult, Sharn Green Jr., 28, of Chicago, and the juvenile were charged with one felony count of retail theft and one misdemeanor count of criminal damage to property.
At around 6:40 p.m., the suspects allegedly went into the AT&T store on 201 N. Randall Rd., Batavia, and removed six cellphones. Police say they damaged display cases to access the merchandise before allegedly stealing the phones and fleeing the scene.
Witnesses told police they saw the suspects throw part of the damaged display case out of their SUV near the Jewel-Osco at 119 S. Randall Rd.

Kane County Sheriff's officers later spotted the vehicle speeding at more than 100 mph eastbound on I-88. Officers began pursuing the car after the driver refused to yield, according to a police summary. The car was last seen I-88 near Naperville Blvd.
At around 7:47 p.m., Lisle police said they saw the suspected vehicle near a wooded area. They used photographs provided by Batavia police to identify Green and the juvenile before taking the suspects into custody.
