Unlocked Cars Burglarized In Northwest, Southeast Batavia: Police

​Police are "currently reviewing a number of leads" pertaining to car burglaries that happened between June 18-20.

BATAVIA, IL — Several unlocked vehicles were burglarized in the early morning hours between June 18 and June 20, Batavia police said.

The burglaries occurred in residential areas in the northwest and southeast parts of Batavia. Areas targeted included the 1900 and 2000 blocks of Wagner Road, the 0-99 and 100 blocks of North Barton Trail, and the 2800 block of Weaver Lane, officials said.

Officers are "currently reviewing a number of leads" in the case, according to a Thursday afternoon news release.

Any residents with surveillance footage in the areas affected should contact the Batavia Police Department at 630-454-2500.

Residents are "strongly encouraged" to keep their cars locked at all times and avoid keeping any valuables in the car. Police said burglary suspects often use garage door openers to enter victims' garages and houses but added there is no indication this was the case in the recent incidents.
