Violent Crime Up In Batavia: FBI Crime Data
Crime stats from 2016 were released this past week by the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Uniform Crime Reporting Program.

BATAVIA, IL -- Violent crime is up in Batavia over the past year while reported property crimes have also increased, according to recently released FBI crime data. Batavia crime stats from 2016 were released this past week as part of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Uniform Crime Reporting Program.
Crime in the United States 2016 is a compilation of information reported to the FBI by more than 16,000 law enforcement agencies nationwide.

Here is a look at violent crime stats from 2016 for Batavia and how those stats compare to 2015:
- There were 26 violent crimes reported in Batavia in 2016 and 28 in 2015
- There were no murders in 2016 and none reported in 2015 in Batavia
- There were three reported rapes in 2016 and four reported in 2015
- There were three robberies in 2016 and seven in 2015 in Batavia
- There were 20 aggravated assaults in 2016 in Batavia and 17 in 2015

- There were 414 total property crimes in 2016 in Batavia and 349 in 2015
- There were 15 burglaries in 2016 and 21 in 2015
- In 2016, there were 394 larceny-theft reports and there 323 larceny-theft reports in 2015
- There were five motor vehicle thefts in 2015 and 2016
- There were six arson reports in 2016 and three in 2015
