THIS WEEK - Seussical Jr. at the Batavia Fine Arts Center
Aurora's Spotlight Youth Theater's latest show, Seussical Jr. set to open on Thursday, October 8th
With the number of humanitarian issues going on in our world today, we could all probably benefit from remembering that “A person’s a person no matter how small.” Aurora’s Spotlight Youth Theater hopes to give us just that reminder with their latest show, Seussical Jr. set to open on Thursday, October 8th at the Batavia Fine Arts Center, at Batavia High School.
This fun loving, family show combines dozens of your most loved Dr. Seuss characters – The Cat in the Hat, Horton the elephant, Mazie – the bird, all of the Whos, and more, in an action packed adventure that will leave you and your children singing for days to come.
Trying to save the population of Whos living on a small dust speck, as well as sitting on an incubating bird’s egg high up in a tree, Horton faces obstacles and enemies who don’t believe, and wish to harm him. In befriending JoJo, the littlest of the Whos, Horton finds a kindred spirit, and vows to do what he has promised and protect the speck. His next door neighbor, the one feathered tailed Gertrude, comes to his aid, in this tale narrated by your favorite fanciful Cat.

With numerous classes and three fully produced, professional quality shows each year, Aurora’s Spotlight Youth Theater strives to give audiences encouraging, uplifting, and thoughtful messages to take away when the curtain closes. What can we learn from Seussical Jr? Toby Elliot, who plays JoJo, says, “After seeing this show you’ll look at the world and all of its’ problems and see that they could be solved easily if we would ‘Just Think’ “. That, and being a bit like selfless Horton, could go a long way!
Seussical will be performed 7 times from Thursday, October 8th, thru Sunday October 11th. Tickets can be purchased at www.spotlight.org.
