1 In Custody For Apparent Facebook Threat In 'Mount Greenwood'

CHICAGO, IL - Chicago police have someone in custody in connection with an apparent Facebook threat that was made in the 22nd District. A now deleted Facebook post from a social media user known as "Savion Savo" includes a photo of a young man, possibly a minor, in Chicago Police Department apparel and a message that most on social media have perceived as a threat.

The young person with the CPD gear on could be seen in the corner of the photo and looked unaware that the photo was being taken, and depicted him, in selfie mode.

The Facebook post, which was tagged in the Mt. Greenwood neighborhood but a report from the Mt. Greenwood Watch neighborhood page indicates was actually made at a pizza restaurant in nearby Beverly/Morgan Park, included a link to an iTunes song and the following message:

"The boy in this picture is probably innocent, bout as innocent as Tamir rice, LaQuan McDonald, Sandra bland, etc. let's hope they stop the Genocide on my people, before the next shots we take aren't with cameras."

The post - which tagged five people - was made on Saturday, Jan. 27, but it didn't circulate onto neighborhood groups until Thursday, when it was later deleted by the user. The post also referred to Mount Greenwood as "a very racist (expletive) town in Chicago."

"We are aware of the incident there is an offender in custody and charges are pending at this time," Chicago Police Officer Michelle Tannehill said in a statement to Beverly-Mt. Greenwood Patch Thursday night.

The offender won't be identified until formal charges are issued.
