1 Person Killed in Morgan Park House Fire After Possible Explosion
Neighbors said they heard explosion early Monday morning. Bomb and arson investigators on scene in Morgan Park.

One person has been killed in a house fire that occurred early Monday morning at 109840 S. Morgan Street.
Neighbors reported hearing an explosion and found the house engulfed in flames around 12:40 a.m. Chicago Fire Department crews arrived at scene moments later.

News reports said that the front bay windows were blown out of the one-story home. The fire was struck at 1:20 a.m.
The Chicago Fire Department’s bomb and arson squad is investigating the fire to determine if there was a natural gas explosion. People’s Gas was also on the scene early Monday morning. Apparently the gas has not been shut off in the rest of the neighborhood.

Neighbors told ABC 7 Chicago that a retired streets and sanitation department worker had lived in the home for eight years. No one else was injured in the fire.
