Police have taken several recent reports of items having been stolen from unlocked cars in Beverly, Mt. Greenwood and Morgan Park.
CHICAGO (BEVERLY, MT. GREENWOOD, MORGAN PARK) — Cars parked on several streets in the 22nd police district neighborhoods of Mount Greenwood, Beverly and Morgan Park have been targeted by thieves who police say go out looking for unlocked cars to burglarize.
Police said in a community alert issued this week the thieves have been walking through the neighborhoods in the early morning hours pulling on door handles. Thirteen incidents like these were reported to police between Jan. 7 and Feb. 4. Two were reported on the same 11100 block of South Homewood Avenue in Morgan Park.
"When the offender finds an unlocked vehicle, they enter the cars taking property from within," according to police.
